Share_Site_Creators Add-On

Hello,

I have been trying to install the aforementioned add-on on a 5.0.d instance without success.

I followed strictly the instructions on github although and I did not manage to get it to work.

I downloaded the .zip file at git-hub, extracted to a folder, ran 'mvn install' and then I got few errors regarding goal and maven repo.

I tried then with 'mvn clean install' and I managed to get it built and create the AMP. Afterwards, I pasted the AMPs at .../alfresco/amps and .../alfresco/amps_share and ran bin/apply_amps.sh.

At the end of the process, when I try to login to share I got credentials issues (can't login with admin/admin). I tried to reach localhost:8080/alfresco and I got 404 error.

In general, can somebody please build the AMP to me??

CE Version 5.0.d

Thanks in advance.

Configuring CIFS

Hi,

I have alfresco-5.0.d Community Version installed on a virtual machine (Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS (64 bit)) of our server. Now I want to configure CIFS to access the Alfresco content like an Explorer Drive from my Window 8.1 PC.
I added in alfresco-5.0.d/tomcat/shared/classes/alfresco-global.properties the lines:

cifs.enabled=true
cifs.serverName=Alfresco
cifs.hostannounce=true

restarted the alfresco server and tried to a map network drive in my windows explorer.
Alfresco Installation directory on the ubuntu-VM is: \home\ota\alfresco-5.0.d
So can I just connect Alfresco as follows:
e.g. network drive: Z:
Folder: \\<IP-Adress Ubuntu-VM>\\home\ota\alfresco-5.0.d

But it doesn`t work (message: Windows cannot access \\<IP-Adress Ubuntu-VM>\\home\ota\alfresco-5.0.d)
Is there anything wrong or missing in my configuration?
Has out Firewall to open some port and which ones?

Thanks for any help!

Hard Drive Full - Disk Usage Solutions Not Working

Hello everyone,

4.2.e

Background: I understand file cleanup goes as follows:
- file gets deleted -> goes to trashcan (aka labelled as deleted in DB but still present in contentstore)
- trashcan gets emptied -> goes to contentstore.deleted at 4AM (aka DB marks files as orphaned, then moves them to contentstore.deleted at 4AM)
- delete contentstore.deleted directory -> file completely gone and space freed up.

I've got a situation where the user ran wild with their files, filling up the 4TB drive. I checked and they had never emptied their trash can, so that was the first step. I also saw that contentstore.deleted was exactly 100GB, so I removed it. The user emptied their trash, I waited overnight, and contentstore.deleted is only 1.3GB, although the user insists they deleted 500GB of files. Am I missing something? Does Alfresco's contentstore.deleted directory have a limit of 100G? Does it take numerous iterations of waiting for contentstore.deleted to fill?

Any input is greatly appreciated,
-Scott.

Configuring Excel preview to be more accurate?

Wondering if there's a configuration option available to do more accurate Excel document previews. Under our old system (SharePoint), Excel documents previewed looking like Excel. In Alfresco/OpenOffice though, they preview looking like PDF/text documents. Is there a way to configure OO to show spreadsheets like spreadsheets (instead of looking like word processor documents)?

LDAP Authentication (no sync) is creating users?!?

$

Hallo,

I've installed Alfresco 5.0.d and want to use LDAP authentication for users that I create manually in Alfresco - as I do not have the possibility to use LDAP groups or any other filter method on the LDAP server.

So I want to create a specific user, enter the LDAP login (+ a random password) and then the user can login in Alfresco via LDAP credentials.

I have configured this setup (sort of...) via the settings below, but the following problem accurs:

Whenever a user logs in who is NOT have a Alfresco user (i.e. who I did not create manually), Alfresco creates this user by itself and the user can log in.

Using some magic debug statements, I got the following output in catalina.out when such a user logs in:

[authentication.ldap.LDAPAuthenticationComponentImpl][...] Authenticating user "<userid>"
[authentication.ldap.LDAPAuthenticationComponentImpl][...] User "<userid>" does not exist in Alfresco. Attempting to import/ create the user.
[authentication.ldap.LDAPAuthenticationComponentImpl][...] Setting the current user to "<userid>"
[authentication.ldap.LDAPAuthenticationComponentImpl][...] User "<userid>" authenticated successfully

That is NOT what I want!

How can I achieve my goal? What settings did I miss?

My configuration in alfresco-global.properties:

authentication.chain=ldap1:ldap,alfrescoNtlm1:alfrescoNtlm

alfresco.authentication.allowGuestLogin=false
ntlm.authentication.sso.enabled=false
ntlm.authentication.allowGuestLogin=false
ntlm.authentication.mapUnknownUserToGuest=false
ldap.authentication.active=true
ldap.authentication.allowGuestLogin=false
ldap.authentication.java.naming.security.authentication=simple
ldap.authentication.java.naming.read.timeout=30000
ldap.authentication.userNameFormat=uid=%s,ou=people,o=xxxxxn,c=DE
ldap.authentication.escapeCommasInBind=true
ldap.authentication.java.naming.provider.url=ldaps://our.ldap.server:636
ldap.authentication.java.naming.security.protocol=ssl
ldap.authentication.truststore.path=/opt/alfresco/alf_data/keystore/ldap/ldap-keystore
ldap.authentication.truststore.passphrase=our-password
ldap.authentication.truststore.type=JKS

ldap.synchronization.active=false
# out of despair, I added these settings, which do not seem to help:
ldap.synchronization.syncWhenMissingPeopleLogIn=false
ldap.synchronization.autoCreatePeopleOnLogin=false

Thank you!

Kind regards
Anna Christina Naß

Preview problem

Hello guys,

I'm sure why I do not have previews on most of the documents - such as: .txt, .doc, .docx, .xls, .html and probably many more. Therefor I can use "View in Browser" option.
I only have preview option for .pdf files.

What do I need to have in order to start the preview? (I think I missed something to install when I installed the server - what should I check and where?)

Boris

Alfresco in multi core enviroment

$

Hello,

we have installed Alfresco 5.0.d Community Edition.
Our server is Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS on Proxmox Virtualization Platform.

System:
CPU : AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 6180 SE (48 core)
RAM: 64GB

Alfresco is the only VM on this Proxmox Server. There are no other VM.
For Alfresco we set 32 cpu cores, and 60GB of RAM

Java settings:
JAVA_OPTS="-Xms8192M -Xmx50G -Xss1024k
Rest 10Gb is lest for other precesses ,like DB engine, LibreOffice

problem is witch Apache Tomcat, cause it uses only 1 , mostly 2 cpu cores.
and second problem is LibreOffice, which after restart uses 100 % cpu - 1 core.
Of course after LibreOffice restart it's Libre process is back to normal cpu usage.

We have standard Alfresco installation without any java version changes
Tomcat 7.0
java version "1.6.0_35"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.13.7) (6b35-1.13.7-1ubuntu0.12.04.2)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.25-b01, mixed mode)

The issue is , how to force Java and LibreOffice to use other cpu cores.
It's olways 1 core with 100% load, and rest 30 cores are doing nothing.
Overall system load is getting higher, while most cpu core are jobless.

The RAM usage is at 30-40%, so it's not RAM problem , disk usage is the same, in peak 10-15MB, so it's not an issue.

Does any know how to change this behaviour.

Regards
Adam

Migrating to new Server (Windows Server 2012R2)

Hello,

We set up an Alfresco installation on a temporary server to give it a try, and decided to move forward with it. However that requires moving it to a new permanent location.

The documentation for exporting/importing the database contents seems to be a little vague and we never had much success.

Can anyone point me towards a more detailed process in how to achieve these steps?

We are using the pre-set installation choices of Alfresco, so we will be using the PostgreSQL database. Using this installer alfresco-community-5.0.d-installer-win-x64

The end goal would be to obviously have a new Alfresco site up and running that is exact copy of the previous site. As well as be able to backup the database regularly, in case of emergency restore.

Thanks!
